I got the idea to write this essay when I was looking through old journals and realized that I had hundreds of lists of food scattered throughout the pages. They were spontaneous records of everything I’d eaten on that particular day, or didn’t want to eat, scribbled down hastily when I was doing or thinking about something else.
Since I was and always will be an English major at heart, I thought it would be interesting to take a closer look at the lists to see what, if anything, they might mean. I’m so grateful to Write or Die Magazine for publishing the essay I wrote about it, and I’d be even more grateful if you put reading it on your list of Things to Do. Read it here.
